This doctorate is intended for those with strong theoretical and research interests and a primary commitment to scholarship, research, teaching and professional training, usually in an academic setting. The PhD requires supervised research culminating in a thesis of 80,000 to 100,000 words. Areas of research expertise include: adult learning, applied linguistics, cross-cultural communication, innovative curriculum and effective classrooms, e-learning pedagogies, leadership and management, international education and globalisation, science and mathematics education, policy research and evaluation, psychology and educational practice, student advocacy and wellbeing, and holistic education.
Entry requirements:
Applicants must have completed an Australian master's degree or bachelor's degree with honours at H1 or H2A level, or approved international equivalent, plus at least three years of relevant professional experience. The English language requirements are as follows: IELTS: 6.5 (minimum band score of 6.0); TOEFL(computer based): 233 (minimum score of 5 in essay writing); TOEFL(paper based): 575 (score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English); TOEFL(internet based): 88 (individual score not less than 22); La Trobe University Language centre: English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at postgraduate level.

This campus is situated on 33 hectares of natural Australian bushland adjacent to the Bendigo National Park, just three kilometres from the centre of Bendigo. It is the University's second largest campus with more than 4000 local and international students studying courses in this regional Victorian city. Bus routes 11 (University) and 14 (Strathdale) connect the campus with the Bendigo Railway Station and CBD. Train and coach services operate between Melbourne and Bendigo seven days a week. A bus service direct to the University from the Bendigo railway station operates each weekday morning and afternoon.

This campus is one of the University's major regional campuses, with modern and attractive buildings, an excellent library and ready access to University-wide resources. The campus offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with some courses being unique to the campus. Studying at the Albury Wodonga campus offers the advantage of personalised support and tuition from our dedicated staff. Wodonga is situated on the main train line between Melbourne and Sydney. Services are available seven days a week. Coaches from various centres also stop at the Wodonga Railway Station.

This campus has both on campus and off campus accommodation. Student Residences form the on campus accommodation. Residences consist of twelve units with six bedrooms, one with five bedrooms and one fully accessible unit with four bedrooms. All units cater for mixed genders. Each student has their own bedroom and shares the kitchen, laundry, bathroom and living area. Each unit is fully furnished and equipped with kitchen appliances. Students need to provide their own bedding, towels and electrical equipment such as stereo, bedside lamp, etc. Most students cook for themselves, but the nearby cafeteria provides meals at a reasonable cost.
