I think it's true to say of attending all colleges the experience is chiefly one of autonomy. The great thing about a smaller specialist college such as ACNM is that the vibe is much more intimate. It's not like the daunting grounds where thousands of students walk through each day. There is huge diversity among the student cohort - people that have come back from years of travel; people doing undertaking another degree parents individuals after a seachange. I think the greatest experience is being able to forge friendships with people of such diverse backgrounds. Being a smaller institutions with lectures held in smaller settings is more conducive to a style of learning often lacking in larger institutions. Questioning is encouraged and the whole atmosphere allows friendships to be formed so easily. And the students are super friendly!
There are currently no prerequisites or ENTER scores set for a place in the college. The admission's process involves a short interview with a student enrollment advisor where they tell you about the college and the service they offer as well as asking you some general questions as to why you wish to attend the college. It's a very friendly process and gaining entry into the college is not difficult. From then you are able to enrol and fees can be paid upfront or via FEE-HELP which is government loan.
The college offers FEE-HELP which is a government loan. The payment of this loan gets deducted from your taxes once you start earning over $38K a year.
Having an avid belief in natural alternatives to health I believe the course to be interesting and stimulating. Some of the subjects in the course include Food as Medicine Herbal Medicine and Nutrition. All of these subjects offer practical skills and knowledge as it relates to well being and the diagnoses of the future clients. Lectures are not conventional in that they are hot housed in huge lecture theatres. The vibe is more akin to large classroom where students are able to stop the lecturer and ask questions.
The college has a organic cafe situated in the student lounge. The facilities are of a decent standard. The location of the university is real positive. Situated on Elizabeth st across from Melbourne Central makes getting to and from college super convenient.
Undertaking these courses is essentially job training for your chosen career choice. On completion of a Health Science naturopathy degree - you are a qualified naturopath. In 3rd and 4th year you spend more time gaining experience practicing on real clients in the student clinic. Obviously natural medicine courses are looked upon favourably in similar industries such as natural health clinics skincare companies and health food stores.
Located in Victoria.
